Michelle Adelman
Co-Founder & CEO

Michelle is a thought leader, strategist and entrepreneur who has developed successful businesses that foster agricultural transformation and food security in Africa and emerging markets.  Michelle is a former global Managing Director at Accenture with over 20 years of experience in consulting and outsourcing, Chief Executive Officer of a US-based home health services company, and Group Executive Strategy for the pan-African Econet Group.  

 

Michelle serves on the Boards of Directors of the Travel for Impact Fund, Sir Ketumile Masire Foundation and the Botswana Human Resource Development Council (HRDC).  Michelle was named Africa’s “Most Influential Woman – Business and Professional Services” by CEO Global in 2017.  Michelle holds a BSc. Engineering Degree from Cornell University, where she serves on an advisory board to the Dean of the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences.

MARINA MITCHELL
Executive Chef

Marina is a trained chef, foodie and mom dedicated to providing her family tasty, healthy meals.  Marina is a graduate of the Institute for Culinary Education (ICE) in New York City and has a Bachelor Science-Finance from Miami University of Ohio. 

 

Prior to returning to her passion for cooking, Marina worked in operations and research in the financial services industry in New York.

JOHN TAMBURO
VP National SALES (US)

John is a results-driven sales professional with extensive experience in the foodservice industry specifically in the protein, beverage, and flavors & ingredients. John started his career with Kraft General Foods as a Salesman but quickly rose through the ranks of sales management including roles at Kraft, Lipton Unilever, Pillsbury, and Wayne Farms. 

 

John is recognized for building and leading high-performance sales teams that exceed expectations by developing sustainable business results by building long term, positive relationships with key customers in every segment of the Foodservice Industry including National Chain Accounts, Industrial Accounts, and Broad Line Distributors.

 

John holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lehigh University in Bethlehem PA

George Sibotshiwe
Co-Founder

George is an entrepreneur and political advisor. He serves as Executive Director of the African Democratic Institute (ADI), a think tank focused on enhancing democracy and good governance in Africa. George is in charge of governance programs in the ADI focusing specifically on campaign development, conflict management, and support for democracies in distress.  As an entrepreneur, George is a co-founder in an investment company focused on introducing disruptive innovations in service-oriented industries in Africa, and recently launched as an Uber like mobile application designed to provide delivery of parcels from point to point leveraging motorcycles, called Sendr.

 

George completed a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with the University of Reading’s Henley Business School. He also has an Honours Degree in Business Administration from Milpark Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree in International relations with the University of London.

ZOE SHYN
VP Operations

Zoe has over 20 years of global experience across investment banking, private equity, legal and hospitality companies. She has a proven track record of success and a focus on operational execution which makes her a valued member of every team she leads. She demonstrates the keen understanding of product and service delivery, building companies from the ground up, then leading the global scaling of those businesses.

 

She takes pride in providing best in class operational execution which she believes is a team effort and requires strong leadership. As a two-time National Champion (while at the University of Maryland, in Lacrosse and Field Hockey), she is a natural coach and mentor which she applies to coaching young athletes in her private life and, more importantly, to her professional career.

 

Several years ago, Zoe moved into the Food & Beverage sector and is a Certified Sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers. She worked in all aspects of the wine supply chain and as a senior leader at a successful wine technology start-up.

 

She has a Law Degree from The University of Baltimore School of Law and lives outside of New York City.

JOHANN MOCKE
Sales & General Manager (South AFRICA) 

Johann is a seasoned fast moving consumer goods specialist and has played a key role in developing and launching successful brands in Southern Africa. Johann has 12 years experience with The South African Breweries (AB Inbev) as Sales Manager, Project manager,  Key Account Manager and National Retail and Wholesale Channel Manager.

Johann joined Clover SA as National Sales Development manager in 2012 and managed the development and structure of the Clover sales force. As Sales development manager, Johann also managed the in-store marketing team which included POS development as well as the Category Management that ensured optimum placement of Clover brands in all major retail groups.

Johann joined Cavalier in 2015 as Sales and Marketing executive. The business owns the whole value chain from farms, feedlot and abattoir to a state of the art manufacturing and packaging facility.

 

Johann holds a B.Comm Marketing degree and a B.Comm (Hons) Marketing degree, both obtained from the University of Pretoria.

NEIL TAYLOR
COO

Neil is an experienced executive and General Counsel with strong M & A experience and operational experience in emerging markets.  With twenty-seven years legal experience and the last nine years primarily focused on Africa.  Varied roles have included General Counsel of NASDAQ 100 listed Millicom International Cellular, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer of global electronics distributor Avnet, Inc., Chief Legal Officer of Helios Towers Africa and CEO of Econet Power.

Neil holds a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and a B.A. in Political Science from Indiana University.

VICTORIA LAKERS
US PRESIDENT

Victoria has spent over 17 years building departments and companies with a focus on environmentally sustainable businesses and hospitality. Victoria has built and sold two companies, and was previously in capital raising and investor relations for Apollo Global Management and Water Asset Management which invests in solutions for water quality and availability 

issues as well as associated energy and agriculture. In these roles she participated in raising over $2.5 billion for several funds, and managed investor relations for several $300+million funds.

 

Prior to this, Victoria spent 6 years in sales manager roles for large hospitality companies. She serves on the advisory board of 5 companies, as a mentor for 3 accelerators and on the Board for the San Diego Air & Space Museum. She was also recently named a San Diego Business Journal’s Next Top Business Leader under 40. Victoria graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Finance.
